Food Technology Service, Inc. (FTSI) provides the value-added service of irradiating customer-owned products to reduce or eliminate harmful organisms. The Company's services also include technical assistance in the areas of dose establishment, dose validation and regulatory compliance. The items processed by FTSI include medical products as well as consumer goods and food items. These services are performed at the Company's facility in central Florida. FTSI is the only commercial irradiation facility in Florida - the nearest competitors are in the Carolinas and Arkansas. Florida is second in the number of medical device manufacturing companies and the State is rapidly expanding as a center for biotechnology companies.

Beginning in 2005, FTSI embarked on a series of enhancements to increase medical sterilization customers. These included the hiring of a dedicated quality assurance manager, purchase of a "state-of-the-art" system used to measure irradiation dose, attainment of ISO certification for sterilization of medical devices, construction of a new warehouse, and expanded processing capacity through the installation of additional Cobalt 60 energy source. The FTSI facility is designed and licensed to accommodate four times the current strength of Cobalt 60 energy source and thus the throughput of the facility can be quadrupled simply through the addition of Cobalt 60. This means the Company can grow significantly without additional infrastructure.

FTSI is registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a contract sterilizer of medical devices and is ISO 13485:2003 certified for the "provision of radiation sterilization services of medical devices to include requirements of EN 552/ISO 11137."
